Malaysia faces significant infrastructure and human capital challenges as artificial intelligence data centers expand within the country, according to analysis from the Asian Development Bank’s regional office (AMRO). The rapid growth in data center demand is straining the nation’s power supply, water resources, and workforce capabilities. AMRO’s assessment suggests these constraints may limit Malaysia’s ability to fully capitalize on the AI industry expansion without substantial investments in infrastructure and talent development.
